Special Circumstance Appeals
Although the process we use to determine a student's eligibility for need-based financial assistance is the same for all applicants, there is some flexibility. For instance we can adjust your (EFC) and make you eligible for additional need-based financial aid if your family has special circumstances that might affect the amount you and your family can contribute towards your cost of attendance.

Some examples of special circumstances we can consider could include loss of income due to unemployment, death of a parent or spouse, elementary and secondary tuition expenses for younger children attending private schools, unusual medical/dental expenses, contributions to unemployed adult children, elder care, legal fees, funeral expenses, etc.

We react to special circumstances on an individual basis and you are encouraged to communicate your situation to us as soon as possible. Appeal Forms are available upon request or may be downloaded from this website by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
