| Annual Student Expense Budget The Office of Financial Aid, in consultation with the School of Law
(UDSL), establishes the annual cost of attendance for students which is called the student expense
budget. Included in the student expense budget are commonly accepted educational expenses such as tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment and living allowances. This budget establishes the
maximum of financial aid that a student may receive over a standard academic year while attending the School of Law.

Because most UDSL students attend full-time during the fall and
spring semesters, our annual student expense budgets reflect these average cost of attendance figures. If your projected
personal expenses are higher than our estimate, you are encouraged to contact a financial aid counselor to discuss your needs and the possibility of an appeal to increase your individual personal
expense allowance. To access the Budget Appeal Form online, click here.
Bar Exam Fees:
As passage of the bar exam is not a prerequisite for obtaining your Juris Doctorate, the costs related to preparing for or taking the bar exam may not be considered as the basis for any budget
appeal. If you are interested in borrowing to cover all or a portion of the costs of their bar exam and any related preparatory courses, you should contact your private alternative loan lender
to obtain a Bar Exam Loan that can be used to cover those and other related expenses.
